Admission to Secondary School booklet 2025

Parents can speak to Mrs Andrews or Mr Crawley, at OBA, about their child’s move from primary school to the academy.

Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy has the following agreed admission numbers for the year 2025-26 and, subject to any changes approved or required by the Secretary of State, for subsequent years:

Where the number of applications for admission is greater than the published admission number, applications will be considered against the criteria set out below. After the admission of pupils with statements of special education needs where the academy is named on the statement, the criteria will be applied as follows:

  1. Admission of children in public care.
  2. Students with elder brothers or sisters including half brothers and sisters and unrelated children living together as part of the same household attending the school and expected to continue in the following year.
  3. Distance to the academy

Application to secondary school 2025

Applications for the primary and secondary 2025 school admissions rounds are open now. The deadline is 31st October 2024.

In-year admissions

Applications made outside the normal admissions round (in-year admissions) should be made by completing an in-year application form available from, and returnable to, the Schools Admissions Team at Halton Borough Council.

Right of appeal

If you wish to appeal against a decision not to admit your child to a particular school, you should contact the School Admissions department by email at [email protected] who will provide you with an appeal form. You should then submit your appeal to the same address.

The following arrangements will be made for all appeals:

At least 10 days prior to the hearing, the clerk will notify you of the time, date and location of your appeal. Approximately 7 days before the appeal you will receive an agenda and supporting paperwork. The appeal will be heard before an independent panel who will have a copy of the appeal submitted by you. You will be notified in writing of the appeal panel’s decision and the grounds upon which it was made. The decision of the appeal panel is binding on all parties.

Sixth Form admission arrangements

Information will be available on our Open Days page.

Students can apply for a place in our 6th Form on our 6th Form Applications page

Late applications will only be considered where there are surplus places in the academy/course(s) applied for, once the oversubscription criteria has been applied.

If more applications are received than the number of places specified then the criteria outlined in the Admissions Policy will determine admission.

If you need assistance with applications please contact the academy on 01928 711643 or email [email protected].

Our Admissions Policy can be found on the Policy Page of our website.

Pupils living nearest to the academy measured using the LA’s Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) address point system which measures straight line distances in metres from the address point of the place of permanent residence of the pupil to the address point of the academy.
