At the beginning and end of each school day, all students in Years 7 to 11 meet with their form group to take part in a number of activities which contribute to their personal development, literacy, numeracy and academic progress.
Students take part in our Reading Ahead programme as well as having an opportunity to gain character education through the Shine Curriculum, take part in Maths Ninjas, engage in careers reflections and to actively monitor their own attendance. In addition, students take part in a daily reflection at the end of the day in our afternoon form time.
A typical week will follow the below schedule although, of course, this may be adapted some weeks to allow students to make the most of other opportunities for personal development.
Each week, our Happy Mondays celebration assembly gets the week off to a positive start, celebrating the achievements of students the previous week and looking forward to the week to come. This is delivered directly to forms using Microsoft Teams.
Additionally, students receive one in-person assembly per week, delivered by staff from across the academy and visiting speakers. Themes this year have included:
