Our vision for humanities is for students to ‘discover the world.’
Within Geography at Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy, we achieve this by embodying the school ethos of courage and choices throughout their seven-year journey with us.
We strive to spark a lifelong curiosity for our planet, to be able to make sense of the world and be in a position to make life-long changes through the choices that we make, showing students both a mirror into their lives and a window to take them beyond their experiences.
Through geography, we provide students with an ambitious range of skills to confidently become effective geographers. To show students how choices have shaped our world, locally, nationally and internationally and the courage they can show in sustaining the world.
To show how geography can enhance life chances and provide wider opportunity for future prospects, and having had the opportunity to confidently discuss opinions and issues on British and world geography.
Throughout all three key stages, an ambitious and rich geography curriculum has been designed to develop powerful knowledge through the study of a range of topics, incorporating physical and human geography, and empowering them with core geographical skills, such as map skills, interpreting photographs, fieldwork skills, presenting and debating techniques. The department runs a host of enrichments and interventions to support students preparing for examinations, as well as to widen their understanding of the subject.
