Comedian John Bishop inspires sixth form students during special homecoming visit
We were delighted to welcome John Bishop back to Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy for a special Q&A session with our sixth form students.
John, who grew up locally and attended the school when it was known as Brookvale Comprehensive, returned to speak with our Year 12 and Year 13 business and media students. The session gave our students a valuable opportunity to hear first-hand about his journey from Runcorn to national success.
During the visit, John shared honest insights into the realities of working in the entertainment industry, from breaking into the business to performing in front of large audiences. Our students asked thoughtful questions about his early career, favourite projects and the many jobs he held before becoming a household name.
He also spoke about the importance of resilience and self-belief, encouraging our students to embrace opportunities and not fear failure. Alongside this, he reflected on his personal experiences, including family life and his love of football.
To round off the visit, John invited a group of our sixth form students to a behind-the-scenes experience at MediaCityUK next month (April). This exciting opportunity will allow them to explore a working studio environment and gain insight into the creative industries.
The visit created a real buzz across our sixth form and reinforced our commitment to raising aspirations and broadening horizons. Experiences like this help bring learning to life and show our students what is possible for their future.
